Film project
Description and Reflection
The objective of this project was to create a documentary using lighting techniques and videography skills that we had been learning about the few weeks before the project was launched. In my documentary you will see that with two of the interviewees I did use different angles and lighting angles. Unfortunately, when I did interview my other two interviewees the lighting room was not available, but I still tried to use what we had learned about natural light and let those play factor when I was interviewing my participants. I was really fascinated in the different type of shots that we had learned about, full body, medium, close shot, close up, over the shoulder, two shot, and cut away shot. I didn't incorporate full body shots, but I did incorporate medium and close up shots. One thing I would do differently if I were to do this project over is be more creative with my filming angles. I did a lot of experimenting with one of my interviewees, Risa Holmes, but with my other participants I kept filming at a consistent medium, above waist, angle. I really enjoyed this project. It has inspired me to use filming in the future, not only in my academics, but on my own time as well. I hope I will have a chance to do projects like this again in the future.

Reflection
What does it really mean to be a 21st century learner?
To be a 21st century learner means to me that you have to take the knowledge you have learned and expand in any way that you see fit. To be a 21st century learner you also have to be able to creatively incorporate the skills to future projects like what you did. For this project there were many steps in which I had to put forward the skills I had learned from the last stage and apply them towards my final project. |
Teacher creature project
Basic Description
The point of this project was to pick a teacher to make into a teacher. I choose Kat Ghadami. I took multiple steps to make this perfect. I first interviewed Kat, asking simple questions like, "What is your favorite animal?". I then used the answers and incorporated her taste into my teacher-creature project. I started by picking out a basic background that would be easy for my creature to blend into. I then took Kat's answers to questions and started putting those objects in the photo. I searched images and put them all together in a project. |
Hardest Part of the Project and how I Persevered Through It
The hardest part about this project was probably getting everything to seem to fit together. It was definitely challenging to get everything to seem realistic. There were aspects of the picture that had to be just perfect. I persevered through this by being patient. I knew I would eventually be able to get through this tough part of the project and that if I kept at it, I would be proud of it. |
Favorite Part of the Project
My favorite part of the project was choosing my scheme in which I would place my teacher-creature. This was my favorite part because I was able to incorporate many aspects from different photos into one photo. This was an interesting skill to learn because I learned how to make so many different elements to blend in and fit into the picture I created. |
What Have You Learned About Yourself?
I have learned that I am quite the perfectionist. If something doesn't really fit, it really bothers me. I did know that I had a bit of perfectionism within me, but this project really showed me that I have a lot. I spent most of my time on this project refining edges and making sure nothing seemed out of place. I especially enjoyed learning about myself and who I am as a person. |
Principles of design
how to use the tools to make art
Elements of Design
The content of most art activities. they include color, line, value, texture, shape or form, and space. the elements of design are the raw materials of an artist - the visual components of art
Color
|
Colors are striking hues of tints that appeal to the eye. It gives the picture a realistic feeling. Colors depend on light because they are made out of light themselves. For example, you can see a red shirt in the light, but when you turn out the lights, you can't see it anymore. Hue, value and intensity are the three main characteristics of color.

Space
|
Actual space is a three-dimensional volume that can be empty or filled with objects. It has width, height, and depth. Space in a painting or photograph is an illusion that creates a feeling of depth. The object or the picture plane is divided into positive space and negative space. Various techniques can be used to show space.

Landscape project
understanding distance with scale and proportion
I learned how to merge different layers of pictures together. I learned about proportion and scale and how to incorporate those into my pictures. Proportion and scale refer to the size of an object in relationship to another object. Proportion and scale also refer to the relative size of parts of a whole. We had to include three layers or 'grounds', foreground, middle ground, and background. Foreground is the part of a view that is nearest to the observer, middle ground is the middle distance of a painting or photograph, and background is the area or scenery behind the main object of contemplation. I also learned how to save my picture as a JPEG and Photoshop document. If you want to go back and edit your picture you have to save it as a Photoshop document because if you save it as a JPEG you have to be finished because you cannot go back and edit it. I learned a lot throughout the landscape project. My growth in Digital Media is definitely expanding.
